Heading Home

Well, we made it out of San Luis Obispo sooner than expected. The next morning after our brakes started squeeking, Brent was able to find a place that had the brake pads we needed, and a guy at the part store suggested a mobile repairman who was able to work on a Sunday. He met us in a Target parking lot and an hour and $200+ later, we were back on the road. A big bummer, but at least we didn't get hung up too long. We missed seeing Steve (Brent's brother) that day because he had to be at work by the time we rolled into L.A., but the kids did get to swim once we got there.

The next morning, we went and met Uncle Steve in Hollywood for a short two-hour visit before having to head back out. I was at least glad the kids got to meet him. Next time, we'll have to come out and do the whole Disneyland or Universal Studios experience.

We had to hit In-N-Out before we left the L.A. area, so we went there for lunch. Brent even dropped his vegetarianism for the day to show the kids how delicious a double-double was. It was a big hit for Cecil, who picked up a shirt to commemorate the experience!

After a night in Phoenix, we headed on to Deming, New Mexico, where we finally arrived early enough to have TWO swimming experiences (the kids have done a LOT of swimming this trip - Cecianna is getting a lot of practice and is doing great swimming and taking breaths without standing up - we're so proud of her progress!)

We know we've been on the road too long because the last two days, we made the kids eat healthy (with a few treat exceptions) - more vegetables and less syrup - and it's like they were having withdrawals! Too many hotel buffets and delicious bar-b-ques I guess. They need to get back on track with their meals!

Tomorrow we are headed home and if we leave early enough, the kids will have time to spend before bed with Sherlock (our dog), whom they are missing dearly!

I've loved following your trip out west. All of the kids look very happy. Sorry about that inappropriate and ill-timed phone call. I'd forgotten you were on the road.
